2007 Female Recipient – Shayna Collins

Shayna Collins will graduate from Kennewick High where she has been on the Varsity swimming and track & field teams all four years, earning 8 varsity letters.  She was swim captain during her junior & senior years and a track captain during her senior year. As a junior, she set a school record in the pole vault and competed at both districts and regional competitions in multiple events.

Off the field, Shayna contributes to her school and community in a variety of ways.  She has been secretary for the Future Educators of America club, a member of the Buddy Club (students helping students), and has been a Special Olympics helper for 4 years.

She has participated in the sports medicine program, taught swim lessons, and is currently an intern at an elementary school, assisting in a 5th grade classroom.  Shayna has been in Orchestra and Symphony throughout her high school career.

In addition to her community and school events, Shayna is active in Young Life and her church youth group and has been a vacation bible school teacher and member of the praise band for 4 years. Through her youth group she has participated in summer mission projects in both the US and Mexico.

Shayna hopes to attend Central Washington University to pursue a degree in Math and Education, and become a teacher.
