2010 Male Recipient – Andrew Yabusaki

Andrew Yabusaki is our first recipient from Hanford High School where he participated in soccer and cross country.  He was varsity soccer captain during his junior & senior years. He also spent two years as manager for the girl’s varsity soccer team. Away from school, Andrew was team captain for 4 years on the Three Rivers Platinum Soccer team and 1 year for the Yakima Reds Soccer.

Andrew contributed to his school and community in a variety of ways.  During his Junior and Senior years, he served as Vice President, then President of his school’s Key Club.

He also participated in Science Bowl, Freshmen Mentoring Link Crew, Canstruction benefiting Second Harvest, as well as multiple Red Cross Blood Drives and Salvation Army Bell Ringing. He spent 2 years as a Math tutor and was involved with various Key Club volunteer work in Richland elementary schools.

Andrew has been a chess coach at Lewis & Clark Elementary School for 4 years, was a clarinet teacher for 3 years and also played in the wind ensemble and Pep Band at Hanford.

Andrew is a member of Honor Society and currently has a GPA of 3.97.
