2016 Female Recipient – Bianca Chavez

bianca-chavezBianca Chavez will graduate from Kennewick High where she has been on the basketball and track & field teams all four years. She also tested her skills on the Cross Country, Swim & Dive and Soccer teams, earning a total of 8 varsity letters in all sports.  As captain for track & field for 3 years she was heralded by her coaches as being a true leader. Whether leading warm ups, or helping see to it that underclassmen made their way to multiple events at their first meets, Bianca is recognized as someone you can always count on to do the right thing.

Off the field, Bianca participated in student government every year of high school, most recently serving as ASB Secretary. This year she was also an ambassador for the Every 15 Minutes program. In addition to her community and school events, Bianca is active in Young Life.

Bianca strives to be a strong example for her younger brothers – role modeling good citizenship, working hard in school and holding part-time jobs. She will be the first in her family to graduate high school – and now also to attend college.

Perhaps one of the most dreaded assignments for an athlete is fundraising. However, one Coach noted that Bianca had more energy than any student he’d ever coached and was the most enthusiastic and effective fundraiser on the team. “Knowing that every dollar benefits the team, she gives it her all.”
