2017 Male Recipient – Tyson Brown

Tyson Brown will graduate from Kamiakin High where he played baseball all 4 years. As a sophomore he was the JV Team Captain before advancing to the Varsity team for his final 2 years.  In addition to school ball, Tyson has played Titans and Dusters baseball, where he was also honored as a Team Captain as well as Most Inspirational.  One coach noted that Tyson is recognized for definitely having ‘outworked’ the other players, and for being the most ‘coachable’ player during his time at Kamaikin.

In the classroom, Tyson’s work ethic is equally strong. He’s taken many honors and AP classes, and is expected to graduate in the top of his class with a 4.0 GPA.

Around the campus, Tyson is a student leader in Run Kano – a program created for the purpose of bringing students together. This year, he organized a ‘Pink Week’ activity that raised over $1,000 which was then donated to the Tri City Cancer Center.  He also helped with the “Trick or Treat for Canned Food” Drive which brought in more than 2,000 cans of food to be provided to families of fellow students in need.

One loud, reoccurring description of Tyson is how perseverant he is – not only for his own growth, but also for the betterment of those around him. Instead of complaining, worrying or even doing nothing, “When Tyson sees problems in the world, he attempts to correct them.”
