2004 Male Recipient – Cody Dean

Cody Dean will graduate from Columbia High School in Burbank where he played football for 4 years, basketball for 2 yrs, and baseball for 2 yrs.

Cody has participated in many school activities, a few of which include Honor Society, Art Club, and Knowledge Bowl.  He has been a member of the Jazz Band for 4 years.  Outside of school he’s spent countless hours with 4-H, served as a tutor for middle school students, volunteered serving lunches to senior citizens and is active in his church activities.

Cody has been a leader both on and off the field.  Some of his leadership roles included captain of the football and basketball teams during his senior year, Treasurer for ASB, FHA, Art Club & FBLA.  One of the outstanding hallmarks of Cody’s resume is his extensive experience as a volunteer coach, referee, tutor and even babysitter.

And throughout his busy high school tenure he has maintained a 4.0 grade point average.

Cody plans to attend University of Puget Sound majoring in mathematics and earning a minor in physics.  He also hopes to pursue a master’s degree at a UPS sister school such as Duke or Brown University, with his ultimate sights set on becoming an aerospace engineer.
