Veronica Delgado is our 2012 female scholarship recipient. She is a student at Pasco High School where she played tennis for 3 years and soccer for 2 years. She was known for her ‘can do’ attitude and sense of team spirit. One coach told us of how as a JV member, Veronica gladly helped with the fundraiser, most of which was for the Varsity squad. When asked why she did it, her response was, “We’re a team, why, wouldn’t I?” Veronica credits her participation in sports as not just something fun and exciting. Rather, she believes sports have helped to build her skills as well as given her the confidence needed to pursue her passion, which is nursing.
In addition to sports, Veronica has participated in many organizations as both as a participant and leader, including Acceso a La Ciencia (Access to Science), a community project in which she helped children and families learn and get excited about science and related fields.
Veronica plans to attend CBC in the Fall to begin her nursing studies.
