2017 Female Recipient – Kelly Brown

Kelly Brown will graduate from Southridge High School where she has been on the soccer, basketball and track & field teams.  While she has enjoyed all of her sports, soccer is clearly Kelly’s passion, having first started playing when she was just 5 years old. This year, she completed her 4th year on varsity and served as a captain for Southridge soccer, where she was heralded as someone who is hard working, reliable and looked up to by her teammates and coaches. In addition to school sports, Kelly also played club soccer as well as had a job coaching young soccer players, too.

Kelly’s classroom work ethic is every bit as strong as it is on the field.  She’s taken many AP classes and earned 20 college credits, all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA.

For the past 3 years, Kelly has participated in service projects through the school’s Key Club. She has also mentored younger students as a member of IGNITE, an organization that pairs upper classmen with younger students to help lessen their anxiety about high school and to also provide positive role models for them.

Kelly Brown has been described as a terrific role model, both in her drive to excel academically but also in her work on the field.  Her determination and positive attitude are sure to create an impact everywhere she goes.
